Stabilizing the results of your orthodontic treatment.

Finally!
You've reached your treatment goal!

Your braces have been removed and your dream has come true: your smile and your teeth are now just the way you always wanted them to be.

Now it's very important to hold your teeth in their new positions to make sure your beautiful smile stays this way.

The final step is to give your teeth lasting stability. This last period of treatment is called the Retention Phase.
Life is Motion!

A basic principle of life is that everything in the universe is constantly in motion. Our teeth are no exception to this rule.

If we did not finish treatment with a retention phase, the teeth would wander very quickly back to their old positions. This is why it's so important to give them long-lasting stability.
Retention Stabilisierung des Ergebnisses Ihrer Zahnkorrektur
We can offer you several options for stabilizing the success of your treatment.

We discuss at a consultation which retention appliance is best for you.
We can offer you the following options:
Removable Retention Plate

As the name already suggests, this appliance is a removable plate used for retention. This type of post-treatment always requires that the patient takes on responsibility, is disciplined and perseveres for the time required.

In other words, to allow it to work effectively, it must be worn regularly as long as needed until the teeth have stabilized.
Retainer Tray

The retainer tray is another removable appliance that also requires responsibility and discipline on the part of the patient

We begin by taking impressions of your teeth from which we make your custom retainer.

If wearing the retainer becomes uncomfortable as time passes, or it even gets to the point where it can only be inserted or removed using force, then this is an indication that the positions of your teeth have changed.

This means that you must diligently wear it every night and maybe even for a few hours during the day. This will slowly give your teeth the impetus to wander back to the desired positions achieved during orthodontic treatment. You must continue being diligent until the feeling of pressure has completed disappeared.

As with all retention appliances, you should wear the removable retainer long enough to allow your teeth to achieve lasting stability.
Fixed Retainer

The most elegant and practical solution is provided by the invisible fixed retainer.

This retainer option uses thin wires bonded to the insides of the teeth to hold them in place, thus making the retainer invisible from the outside.

Because the fixed retainer is bonded to the insides of your teeth, it stays in your mouth during the entire retention phase until the teeth have become firmly stabilized.

We can offer different types of retainers that are made of different materials. We use, for example, retainers made of special nonmetallic fibers for patients who have a metal allergy.

It is important during the retention phase to let us check your fixed retainer from time to time.
